Zhytomyr district heating

Energy intensity in Ukraine is about three times higher than the European Union average due to under-investment in energy infrastructure. The modernisation of Zhytomyr’s district heating system is financed by a €4 million grant from the E5P and a €10 million loan from the EBRD. The project will reduce energy consumption by 30 per cent and will cut CO2 emissions by over 34,000 tonnes per year.
